One of our health care clients, AMSURG Corporation here in Nashville, recently launched StopColonCancerNow.com, a national awareness and prevention campaign. Throughout March — Colon Cancer Awareness Month — the company will be doing national media relations, local events and social media stuff to get the word out.
It’s been a cool project to be apart of because of the digital components we helped with, including the website design, copy and interactive features. And, it’s been rewarding because the overall mission is to get people talking and save lives (click here to pledge your support). That might sound corny or lofty, but its the second-leading cancer killer in the U.S. — and everyone’s at risk. Most people don’t realize colon cancer is 90 percent preventable if you get screened on time.
A little background: AMSURG is the largest provider of colonoscopy services in the U.S. Founded in 1992, the company partners with physicians across the country to manage ambulatory surgery centers. More than 700 physicians are part of the Stop Colon Cancer Now movement.
Over the past 15 months, we’ve worked with AMSURG to launch 80 websites for their surgery centers and affiliated physician practices. Those centers specializing in gastroenterology procedures are participating in the campaign, including this local center.
