The Case for Blogging

Do you read a lot of blogs? Thinking of starting a blog? Did you start a blog and then find it hard to make time to think of something clever and pithy?

Lets face it, blogging can be a lot of fun on days when you feel inspired and intelligent. When you find that one great article that you know will inspire others, passing it on in a blog can feel like you are giving the greater web world a gift. However, blogging can also be a real chore on days when your mind is a bit mushy or you feel like your workload may crush your very being. So, why make the time to blog?

One of our favorite bloggers, Joe Pulizzi, celebrated his 37th birthday by listing 37 reasons to blog. Joe is a content expert, so he understands the power of content – and the power a blog can have in disseminating great content.

Need more inspiration to blog? Andrew Sullivan, a journalist, blogging pioneer and current blogger for The Atlantic Online, takes a more literary and historic approach when making his case for blogging. He contends that blogging is simply the evolution of what people have been doing for years – creating a log or diary of their life and experiences.

Thinking of starting a blog (or restarting your existing dead blog)? I recommend checking out another one of my favorite bloggers, Darren Rowse, who writes an instructional blog on blogging called ProBlogger. His article on Blogging for Beginners is resource rich and easy to digest.
