This Friday is Blog Action Day. What is Blog Action Day? According to the the Blog Action Day microsite, it is “an annual event held every October 15 that unites the world’s bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day with the aim of sparking a global discussion and driving collective action.” Change.org is sponsoring Blog Action Day and so far, 3,700 blogs in 125 countries have signed up to participate. (The official blog of the White House just announced it will be participating!)
This year’s issue is water. Bloggers are asked to create a posting that will bring attention to the fact that safe, clean water is a precious resource that many of us take for granted. The Blog Action Day website offers an impressive list of sponsors ranging from Mashable to Greenpeace to Unicef to OxFam, as well as a list of topics to help bloggers craft their pro-clean water message.
On Friday, I am curious to see how many of my favorite blogs will be participating. I encourage you to check out the website and consider learning more about Blog Action Day. Will you be participating?
