‘Tis more blessed to give than to receive … but receiving is still pretty awesome, right?
For most of us, the answer is ‘yes.’ So as I worked my way through my shopping list last week, I started thinking about how I might be able to give a little more without receiving a larger bill.
With a little Googling, I found a piece of retail magic. The site is RetailMeNot, and while I’m sure there are hundreds of similar sites that can help you cyber-clip a coupon, this one has yet to steer me wrong.
You simply enter the name of the vendor you’re shopping with, and it provides you with the most recent and successful coupons for that company. For example, you can take a look at Macy’s entry here. They have codes for free shipping, 15 percent discounts and even a deal on the Justin Bieber fragrance – SWOON!
Aside from the relief this will give your pocketbook (and your 12-year-old niece when she realizes she can finally smell the way “The Bieb” wants her to), it also makes the tedious process of combing the web for gifts a little more fun.
Furthermore, from a business perspective, you can join in the giving game by signing up for the community and posting deals you’re willing to offer. If you’re looking to unload old inventory or catch the eye of a new audience, sites like this allow you to engage on different levels and can get you real results.
And if that’s not enough to spur you into action from your holiday-induced sugar coma, consider this: wouldn’t it be nice to be the business that is good for both your waistline and your bottom line this holiday season? That’s a treat everyone can get behind.
