The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) just released a report listing the top 10 most requested gadgets for 2010’s holiday season. CEA found that consumers are planning to spend $750 total on gifts, with $232 going toward consumer electronics. The top 10 most requested electronic items being requested this year include:
- iPod/iPod Touch
- Video Game System
- Digital Camera
- Big Screen TV
- Desktop PC
Who will receive these gifts? CEA’s 17th Annual CE Holiday Purchase Patterns Study also found that “nearly half will buy a CE gift for children on their list, two in five will buy a CE gift for their spouse/significant other and 29 percent will buy CE for themselves.”
Fast Company, who also covered the report, created a chart to compare consumer CE wish lists over the last three years (below). It is interesting to track the desirability of various products over time. Camcorders, GPS and DVD players drop off in 2009 and iPads and eReaders jump onto the list in 2010 and 2009, respectively. TVs hold constant over the years, but the type of TV has changed over time.
What is on your holiday wish list for 2010? Any of these items?
