Anti-Abuse Advertisement Targets Young Children

lenticular-used-in-child-abuse-campaign-5If you follow Parthenon on Facebook or Twitter, you know we like to have a good time – including field days, prank wars and scavenger hunts. You also probably know we always make time to give back to our community. One of the organizations close to our heart is Our Kids, is a Nashville not-for-profit that offers expert medical and crisis counseling services for children when there are allegations or concerns of child sexual abuse.

ANAR (Aid to Children and Adolescents at Risk), a Spanish organization with a similar mission as Our Kids, recently released an ad that garnered national attention. ANAR offers free and confidential consultation through its nationwide call center, and their revolutionary ad appears in a different to way children and adults — hopefully empowering children to call for help.

ANAR’s ad uses a lenticular top layer, which makes it appear different depending on the height of the passerby. If you are taller than 4’5″ the ad is the image of a sad child and the message reads: “Sometimes, child abuse is only visible to the child suffering it.” When someone at that height or shorter, usually a child, sees the ad, the sad-child image is covered in bruises and the message reads “if somebody hurts you, phone us and we’ll help you,” with the foundation’s phone number. ANAR’s hope is to reach abused children even if they are with their abuser.
