Parthenon’s Road King Magazine Wins Five Industry Awards

Road King magazine, published by Parthenon Publishing of Nashville, Tenn., won five awards in the Truck Writers of North America Communication Awards given out at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

Parthenon was honored five times for the writing and design of the trade publication Road King, including one gold, one silver and three bronze awards.

"We're very pleased to be recognized for our publishing work by the TWNA," said Bobby Stark, Parthenon's president.

The TWNA Communication Awards recognize excellence in trucking industry journalism in both the trade and mainstream press, as well as excellence in communication with the industry by public relations professionals.

Parthenon’s awards were in the following categories:

  • Gold Award in the Single Issue category for the July/August 2005 issue.
  • Silver Award in the Magazine Graphics – Cover Art category, for "Satellite Technology," illustrated by Mike Dunn.
  • Bronze Award in the Magazine Graphics – Total Design category, for the September/October 2005 issue by Michael Nott, Road King's art director.
  • Bronze Award in the Magazine Writing – Commentary category, for "Bad Blood," by David A. Kolman.
  • Bronze Award in the Magazine Writing – Driver’s Lifestyle category, for "The Next Big Thing," by Paul Hartley.

Road King is a 225,000-circulation, bi-monthly magazine published for professional truck drivers. It is distributed and owned by TravelCenters of America, based in Cleveland, Ohio, with 160 locations nationwide.
