Road King Magazine Wins 11 Industry Awards

Road King magazine, published by Parthenon Publishing of Nashville, Tenn., won 11 awards, including a Best of Graphics 2008 Award, in the Truck Writers of North America Communication Awards given out at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

The TWNA Communication Awards recognize excellence in trucking industry journalism in both the trade and mainstream press, as well as excellence in communication with the industry by public relations professionals.

Road King won magazine writing awards in the following categories:

  • Gold Award for Column: “Driving With Dave” by David A. Kolman
  • Gold Award for Technical: “Blazing Trails” by Paul Abelson
  • Gold Award for Single Issue: March/April 2008
  • Silver Award for Driver’s Lifestyle: “Beyond the CB” by Katie Dodd and Nancy Henderson
  • Silver Award for Feature: “Scaling the Wall” by Katie Dodd
  • Silver Award for Driver’s Lifestyle: “Soldiering On” by Paul Abelson

Road King won magazine design awards in the following categories:

  • Best of Graphics 2008 and Gold Award for Single Color Photo: Hard Work, Big Dreams by Michael Nott
  • Silver Award for Article: “This Old Truck” by Michael Nott
  • Silver Award for Cover: “18-Wheel Salute” by Michael Nott
  • Silver Award for Total Publication: March/April 2008

Parthenon’s creative director, Michael Nott, won best in graphics for the third year in a row.

Road King is a 225,000-circulation, bimonthly magazine published for professional truck drivers. It is distributed and owned by TravelCenters of America, based in Cleveland, Ohio, with 160 locations nationwide.
