Parthenon Expands Digital Media Department

Parthenon has added two skilled professionals to its digital media department. Matt Southards joins as the Digital Media Director and Matt Bigelow joins as the Digital Media Manager. In his new position, Southards is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Parthenon Publishing digital media department, including strategic planning, website development, and building strong client relationships. Bigelow previously was with Journal Communications, Inc., where he managed more than 100 websites, including analyzing web traffic trends and content strategies.

Savvy companies are flocking to Facebook but not many are taking it to the level of the Gap stores. The Gap has littered the internet with ads that link directly to their Facebook page, not a traditional Facebook page, but one that has video and flash applications to browse styles - a virtual runway where models strut the latest jeans and the user can click directly to checkout. The page also features videos of the head designers talking about fashion details.

Thoughts from the Editor: Completing the Picture

I was excited about the UPS driver training school story for Road King as soon as I assigned it. Here was a place that took truck driving safety so seriously that they brought an elite group of driver-trainers to a three-week boot camp on driving safely. Our writer, David Kolman, nailed the details — rules of the road shouted out on demand, timed inspections, barked orders and exhausted trainees pushing themselves so they wouldn’t wash out.
