RSS 2.0Parthenon Supports Team William
Parthenon Publishing was proud to be a sponsor of the Team William 5K Race at the Warner Parks today. The event supports efforts to increase reading scholarship opportunities for children with Down syndrome at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Reading Clinic and to promote awareness within the community.
While weather threatened, the clouds broke and people from all around Middle Tennessee joined together to support this worthy cause. The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Reading Clinic is the only Reading Clinic in the area to offer instructional and financial assistance to children with developmental disabilities.

Team William began as an idea to help children with Down syndrome learn to read. This idea quickly gained momentum as 134 people reached out to raise approximately $31,000.00 in 2005. This money enabled the establishment of an endowment – The William Hart Spickard Andrea Blake McDermott Team William Endowment – that provides reading scholarships for children with Down syndrome at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Reading Clinic. Since the event started, Team William has raised more than $130,000.
