Are you aware that it is Social Media Day? While not yet a national holiday, the website Mashable is trying to promote social media to the masses by declaring an unofficial holiday to “celebrate the revolution of media becoming social.”
To make sure that Social Media Day is indeed social, Mashable has encouraged people across the world to host Mashable Meetups – opportunities for like-minded people to mix and mingle. (There is one here in Nashville at 6 p.m. tonight at the Crow’s Nest in Green Hills.) So far, there are 630 Mashable Meetups scheduled for today – with events hosting hundreds of people in locations ranging from New York to Sao Paul, Brazil to Barcelona, Spain.
