Our Favorite Apps
There’s a reason those things are called smartphones. Any kind of information you want is at your fingertips. As the ad says, “there’s an app for that.”
Some of the favorite apps among the Parthenon staff:
Dragon Dictation – A free voice to text app that is simple to use and perfect alternative to your iPhone’s minikeyboard when you want to Tweet, text or send email from your phone.
CardMunch – A business card reader that coverts those rectangular bits of paper into address book contacts and connections on LinkedIn
Ambiance Lite - The description of this app is “environment enhancer.” Think white noise or background sound to help you destress, perk up or just smile. French Cafe, anyone? How about Farm Sounds?
Starbucks – More than just a store locator, the latest iPhone app lets you use Mobile Pay for Starbucks purchases. You can also use it to keep track of your rewards program status and load up your Starbucks card.
iTreadmill – This exercise helper lets you set a walking or running pace, gives you a calorie count at the end of your workout and integrates with your iTunes account so you can set up your own playlist of songs to run in the background.
Inspirational quotes – When you need some positive reinforcement, this database of more than 800 words of wisdom can keep you going. Sample: “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” – Nelson Mandela. If you need more quotes, just swipe up the screen for a flip to the next “page.”
Star Walk – For both the avid and amateur stargazer.
Goodreads – Helps you find your next book, get recommendations from friends, discuss favorites and scan the barcode on a book that looks interesting to get reviews.
