Parthenon’s Top Apps for the iPad

At Parthenon, we love the iPad. Apparently, a majority of Americans do too. The iPad is one of the top 10 most requested technology gifts for 2010. So, if you happen to receive an iPad this holiday season, what do you download first? Parthenon employees all have iPads and we polled the group to see which apps were their favorites.

	Flipboard free Ever wonder if you will run out of things to read? Not possible with Flipboard. This innovative app allows you to pull content from virtually any online source and then view it in an attractive magazine-like environment. You can tailor the content or use one of Flipboard’s recommendations. You have to see this app to really appreciate its depth. (It was just named Apple’s iPad App of the Year).
	AirDisplay 1.2 for iPad $9.99 Ever want a second monitor but your boss will not approve the budget line? With AirDisplay, your iPad turns into a second wireless monitor.
	Pandora Radio free Pandora is a must-have for any music lover. Pandora offers live-streaming music on “channels” that you can customize by offering thumbs-up or thumbs-down reviews of songs. The interface for the iPad is new and much improved from the current online version.
	Epicurious free Are you a foodie? Then this app is for you. With beautiful photos and recipes from magazines like Gourmet and Bon Appétit, this app is sure to make your mouth water! The search feature is easy to use and the app even helps you create a shopping list.
	AP Mobile free We love news at Parthenon and there are many apps out there you can download to get the latest news on your iPad. AP Mobile allows you to customize the news you receive and include a local feed so you can get all your news in one place.
	TED free We are long-time fans of TED, an organization that seeks to bring innovative ideas to the world. The TED app allows you to download hundreds of fascinating TED Talks with ease.
	iBook free This is a simple, easy to use electronic book reader that supports PDFs. You can shop from the available titles from Apple’s bookstore or upload your own PDFs. Kindle also offers a great reader that allows you to download books from Amazon.
	Wordpress free For all of those bloggers and web content managers out there, the Wordpress iPad app makes updating your site easy. You can publish posts, edit pages and manage comments.
	Angry Birds $4.99 If you need a way to unwind and waste away a few hours, then Angry Birds may be a great app to download. The game is fun, easy to learn and very addictive. (And, if you just cannot figure out how to get to the next level, secrets are available with a quick Google search.)
