I Don’t Want To Write a Blog Post Either

Here’s the absolute truth about our blog posts at Parthenon: We all struggle with them.beautiful sad asian woman

We grouse that we have enough work on our plate without having to agonize over what we are going to write for this dang blog, too. We complain that we don’t know what to write about. We worry that our blog entry is completely useless. We pout and get sarcastic when we are reminded that it’s our turn to contribute.

But we all do it anyway.

We do it because time and time again, we have seen that the blog brings people to our website, where they can learn more about what Parthenon Publishing does. Knowing that there is a tangible reward for putting forth a little effort keeps us typing away even as we grumble. Amazingly enough, once we get past the grumbling and figure out what we want to say, it’s really not that difficult.

You can do it! Here’s how we do:

We used to be a bit too haphazard with our posts, so we now have a schedule and everyone participates. That allows for multiple points of expertise in addition to spreading the workload.

When you are looking at a to-do list that seems insurmountable, emails keep pouring into your inbox and you have to go to yet another meeting, creating a blog post might seem to be the lowest of your priorities. But in this digital-driven world, keeping your website content fresh is vital. Plus, your blog posts are perfect content to share on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.

Creating content for you company, beyond press releases, is now a necessary part of doing business. Find your contributors and get them blogging. They may whine at first — OK, every time — but in the end they’ll be glad to have something with their name on it that promotes the company, and that they can point out to clients. And their mom.
