Parthenon Unveils New Road King

January 1st, 2008

Parthenon Publishing has unveiled a new design for Road King magazine with the January/February 2008 issue.

Road King is a 45-year-old, 225,000 circulation magazine owned by TravelCenters of America, LLC. The magazine’s readers are professional, over-the-road truck drivers. It is distributed through more than 160 travel plazas across the U.S.

Road King has grown in terms of readership and page count,” said Bobby Stark, president of Parthenon. “We wanted to expand the editorial departments serving our readers, so we added regular features on health, safety and government regulations. We also wanted to give the magazine a new design and format so readers could navigate the expanded content easily.”

Parthenon has published the magazine for the past four years. When Parthenon started publishing Road King, an average issue was just 56 pages. Due to Parthenon’s advertising sales success, the magazine averaged 96 pages per issue in 2007. The magazine won 13 design and editorial awards from the Truck Writers Association of America in 2007. It also received a regional Award of Excellence from the American Society of Business Press Editors for news analysis.
